How to Export Instagram Data
- Open Instagram → Profile → Menu → Accounts Center
- Tap Your information and permissions → Export your information
- Tap Create export → Export to device
- Tap Customize → Clear All except Followers and following
- Set Date range: All time, Format: JSON
- Enter your email and tap Start Export, then select the ZIP from the email here — no unzipping needed
Both Followers and Following are required for complete analysis.

How to download your Instagram data
Instagram hands you your own follower lists on request — no third party involved. Three steps, then a wait that is usually minutes.
Open Accounts Center
In the Instagram app, go to Settings and activity, then Accounts Center, then Your information and permissions.
Select only Followers and following
Tap Download your information, pick the account, choose Export to device, then open Customize information and clear every box inside Connections but one.
Select ONLYFollowers and following
Leave everything else off. Instagram builds the export far faster and the file stays small enough to read in one go.
Set All time and JSON, then download the ZIP
Set the format to JSON — not HTML. Instagram emails you a link when the export is ready; save the ZIP and drop it into the checker above.
Date range must beAll time
Any shorter range exports only the people added inside that window, so long-time followers go missing and every result comes out wrong.
Threads works the same way: in Customize information, clear everything and select Threads instead.
Why we never ask for your password
Any tool that promises your unfollowers in exchange for your Instagram login is asking you to hand your account to a stranger and to break Instagram's terms while you do it. It isn't necessary. Instagram already gives every account holder their own follower lists on request, which is the file this page reads.
That file is parsed by JavaScript running inside your own browser. There is no upload step, no server that could keep a copy, and no analytics event carrying a username or a count. Load the page, switch off your Wi-Fi, and the checker still works — the simplest proof available.
Questions about this tool
Is it safe to drop my Instagram export here?
Yes — the file never goes anywhere. The page reads the ZIP in your browser's memory: there is no upload request, no server that could store it, and no analytics event that carries a username or a count. Disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded and the checker still works. Closing the tab erases everything.
Which file do I drop?
The ZIP Instagram emails you after you request your information — its name usually starts with instagram- and it contains a connections/followers_and_following folder. Request it with only Followers and following ticked and the date range set to All time: a shorter range leaves your older followers out of the file, and then the numbers here cannot be right. There is no need to unzip it, and split files such as followers_1.json and followers_2.json are added together automatically. The unzipped folder or the loose JSON files work too.
Why can't a web page show who unfollowed me?
Because an unfollower is a difference between two moments, not a fact inside one file. A single export lists who follows you today; naming the people who left requires remembering yesterday's list as well. This page deliberately forgets everything the moment you close it, so it can only show what one export contains. Does this work for Threads?
Yes. If your archive contains the Threads folder from Your Instagram activity, the checker reads it and labels the result as a Threads export. When an archive holds both, Instagram is analysed. Threads usernames are taken from the export's username field, never from the display name.
